Zachary's Milestones and Alan's too.

Zach is crawling! He's been really moving on his own for about 2 weeks. It's not a traditional crawl - more like a sit/crawl with some strange leg movements going on - I'll have to get some good pics of it soon. It's hard to describe but it gets him where he wants to go and that is what matters. He's still determined to walk, pulls himself up on everything and walks around holding on to things. It will probably only be another month or so before he takes off. He learned to crawl in a completely different fashion than Alan did. Alan started creeping (commando crawling - mostly using his arms to drag the rest of his body forward along the ground) at about 7 months old. Then he learned to sit up on his own at about 8 months and was truly crawling at about the same time. He started pulling himself up on things around 9 months old and he started walking at 11 months, walking confidently by 12 months old. Zachary was determined to stand up and walk at 7 months old. He wanted nothing to do with crawling and hated being on his belly. At 8 months he learned to sit up on his own. And at 9 months he learned to sit/crawl in his own fashion.

It's so interesting as a mom to see the many differences between my children. I love them both so much and their little personalities just fascinate me. Alan is truly a little choloric boy - a leader - he's task orianted and focused on the goal. He's a quick learner and not too sensitive to pain or correction. He requires lots of firm discipline sometimes but he is also learning early and quickly how to be kind and nice to others, to share and be obedient. We say, "Listen and Obey," to him a lot. It's our mantra. I'm proud of him. I think he is the perfect first born child. He still loves loves loves playing with his trains and watching Cars, Choo Choos, Christmas Boz, and Praise and Worship.

This morning while we were watching a praise and worship DVD, Zachary very intentionally lifted his hands up to worship and said, "AyJah" (Hallelujah) for the first time. I'm so amazed at how quickly he's learning to talk. Alan wasn't really using words consistantly to name certain things until he was about 14 months old. Zach is 9 months and he says, "Mama" when he wants me, "Dada" when he sees his dad, "ball" when he sees one (he adores balls and throws and catches them like a pro), "uhoh" when he drops something, and he randomly imitates other words we say from time to time. He's a little phlegmatic/sanguine like his dad and I think he's going to love to talk. Zach is much more sensitive to discipline and correction and he cries a lot more when he falls down or scares himself.

I can't remember if I posted his stats from his 9 month check-up, but he's in the 50th precentile all the way around (Alan was always 75th to 90th percentile). He weighs 20 pounds, 12 ounces and is something like 27 inches long? I've forgotten already. Alan weighed 34 pounds with his coat and shoes on.

So, that's my boys.
